Caused by intentional or accidental obstruction to {airways} (e.g. a pillow).

DIAGNOSIS: Patient distressed. Face is ashen & lips become blue or {cyanosed}. May be semi-conscious.


TREATMENT: Clear {airways}. Call for medical aid urgently as death can occur very rapidly unless the obstruction is cleared.
